Crywolf
The fortress from level 200 up, the most complete NPC base outside the towns, the door to Balgass's barracks and the only source of the Fenrir materials.
Updated on August 10, 2026Crywolf is map 34, the walled fortress you reach through the Valley of Loren. As a hunting field, it covers level 200 to 350: the scouts at the entrance are level 97 and the Soram at the far end are level 134, with 164,000 health. As a base, it is a case of its own, because it has a blacksmith, a vault, a pet trainer and two quest NPCs in the same place.

How to get there
Crywolf has no entry in the Move window. The only way is on foot, through the Valley of Loren, and the Valley is reached from Lorencia.
| Step | Where to step | Level | Arrives at |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Lorencia (239,14) | 10 | Valley of Loren (29,37) |
| 2 | Valley of Loren (161,37) | 10 | Crywolf Fortress (231,37) |
The way back is at (239,40), which returns you to the Valley (155,37). The level requirement of both portals is very low, 10, so any character can get into Crywolf. What keeps a weak character from staying is the monsters, not the door.
Who lives here
Eight living species on the map, in three steps: three scouts at level 97, the Werewolf and the Hero from level 118 to 127, and the Balram and Soram pair at the top. The numbers are the design values from the server; in the closed test the monsters are temporarily weaker.
| Monster | Level | Health | Damage | Defense | How many |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Hammer Scout | 97 | 45,000 | 530 to 560 | 420 | 32 |
| Lance Scout | 97 | 45,000 | 530 to 560 | 420 | 32 |
| Bow Scout | 97 | 45,000 | 530 to 560 | 420 | 25 |
| Werewolf | 118 | 110,000 | 830 to 850 | 680 | 34 |
| Scout (Hero) | 123 | 120,000 | 890 to 910 | 740 | 10 |
| Werewolf (Hero) | 127 | 123,000 | 964 to 1,015 | 800 | 20 |
| Balram | 132 | 140,000 | 1,075 to 1,140 | 885 | 15 |
| Soram | 134 | 164,000 | 1,200 to 1,300 | 982 | 15 |
The three scouts have exactly the same numbers and differ only in the weapon in hand: hammer, lance and bow. As a group they are 89 monsters, almost half the map, and they form the region where you farm from level 200 to 260.
The event statues (Wolf Status and Wolf Altar 1 to 5) are registered on the map with the event start trigger. Since the event never fires, they do not show up. If they ever do, they will be level 2 targets with 50 health and 70 defense, made to be broken, not to fight.
What drops here
The global groups apply: every Crywolf monster is past level 76, so jewels at 0.1% and excellent at 0.01% apply across the whole map. Zen on half the kills and a random item on 30%. Beyond that, Crywolf is the only place in the game that drops the three Fenrir materials.
Medals barely show up: the Gold Medal requires monsters up to level 110, and only the three scouts (97) fit. The Symbol of Kundun +6 and +7 drop well here, and so do the Old Scroll +6 and the Illusion Sorcerer Covenant +6, because both ask for monsters from level 96 and 100 up.
Farming the Fenrir
The three mount materials split the map by step: the most common one comes from the crowd at the entrance and the rarest from the pair at the far end. Each has its own drop group, tied to the species, so they do not compete with jewels or potions in the roll.
| Material | Drops from | Level | Chance |
|---|---|---|---|
| Splinter of Armor | Hammer Scout, Lance Scout and Bow Scout | 97 | 10% |
| Bless of Guardian | Werewolf and Werewolf (Hero) | 118 and 127 | 10% |
| Claw of Beast | Balram and Soram | 132 and 134 | 3% |
The mount chain has three stages, and the first two can fail: 20 Bless of Guardian plus 20 Splinter of Armor become one Fragment of Horn at 70%, five fragments plus 10 Claw of Beast become one Broken Horn at 50%, and the Broken Horn becomes the Horn of Fenrir at 30%.
All three stages can fail, and the material is gone on a failure, so the real math is much bigger than the recipe suggests. A single Broken Horn consumes on average 286 Bless of Guardian, 286 Splinter of Armor and 20 Claw of Beast. Since the third stage only lands 30% of the time, you need more than three Broken Horns: one Horn of Fenrir costs, on average, 952 Bless of Guardian, 952 Splinter of Armor and 67 Claw of Beast.
At the current chances that is around 9,500 kills to gather each of the two bulk materials. It is several days of farming, and it is better to know that before you start than halfway through. Two things help: the 89 scouts at the entrance are almost half the map, so the Splinter of Armor tends to pile up, and the third stage consumes no Crywolf material, only 1 Jewel of Chaos, 3 Jewel of Life and zen.
NPCs
It is the most complete base outside a town in the game. Seven NPCs, including a blacksmith and a vault, which lets you stay on the map for hours without going back to Lorencia.
| NPC | Coordinate | What for |
|---|---|---|
| Baz The Vault Keeper | 113.56 | opens the vault |
| Hanzo The Blacksmith | 145.14 | repairs and refines gear |
| Pet Trainer | 135.47 | takes care of the pets |
| Priest Devin | 228.48 | gives quests 5 and 6, which open Balgass |
| Werewolf Quarrel | 62,239 | takes you to the Barracks of Balgass for 3,000,000 zen |
| Guardsman | 118.11 | fortress guard |
| Wandering Merchant Martin | 99.40 | traveling merchant, shows up from time to time |
The road to Balgass
The two quest NPCs in Crywolf open the Balgass chain, which is the level 400 content of classic Season 6. Both quests are given by Priest Devin (228,48) and require level 400.
| Quest | Cost to start | What it asks for | Reward |
|---|---|---|---|
| Infiltrate The Barracks of Balgass | 7,000,000 zen | 20 Balram, 20 Death Spirit and 20 Soram, inside the Barracks | 10 stat points |
| Into the 'Darkness' Zone | 10,000,000 zen | 1 Dark Elf, in the Balgass Refuge | 30 points and the third class skills |
With the first quest accepted, the Werewolf Quarrel (62,239) starts taking you to the Barracks for 3,000,000 zen. That is the door that leads to the Refuge and the Dark Elf.
Is it worth it?
It is, but for two reasons that have nothing to do with each other: the third class quest chain and being a complete base. As a pure farming map, Swamp of Calmness and Kanturu Relics pay more per hour in the same range.
- Blacksmith, vault and pet trainer on the same map.
- Mandatory starting point of the Balgass quest chain.
- 31 regular spots and 4 hot spots marked on the minimap.
- Every monster on the map drops jewels and excellent.
- Only source of the three Fenrir materials, one per monster step.
- The Crywolf event does not work. Anyone coming for the fortress siege will find an ordinary hunting field.
- No entry through the Move window: it is two portals and a walk through the Valley.
- Almost no medals drop, because most of the map is past level 110.
