Maximum gear score
How the number is put together, what each component is worth, the real cap on a piece and where it stops growing.
Updated on August 10, 2026The gear score is the sum of six parts per equipped piece, and the character number is the sum of the pieces. It is the same number on the C panel, on the Discord card and in the site ranking: the server calculates it once and everyone reads from there. Rarity and gear score look at the same signals, but they are separate things: rarity is the color, gear score is the continuous ruler.
- 268cap on a single piece
- ~2,900fully geared top character
- 90cap on the tier part
- 8points per excellent option
The six parts
| Part | How it counts | Maximum per piece |
|---|---|---|
| Tier | item drop level divided by 2, capped at 90 | 90 |
| Refining | its own table, from 0 at +0 to 70 at +15 | 70 |
| Excellent | 8 per excellent option | 48 |
| Luck | 4, flat, if the piece has luck | 4 |
| Ancient | 20 plus 6 per active ancient discriminator | 26 |
| Socket | 6 per fitted sphere | 30 |
Adding it all up: 90 plus 70 plus 48 plus 4 plus 26 plus 30 gives 268. A piece without sockets, which is the case for most top equipment, stops around 238.
The refining table
The points per refining level are not linear: they climb fast in the middle and slow down at the top, because the ramp was designed to reflect how much each level actually costs.
| Level | +0 | +1 | +2 | +3 | +4 | +5 | +6 | +7 |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Points | 0 | 1 | 3 | 6 | 9 | 13 | 18 | 24 |
| Level | +8 | +9 | +10 | +11 | +12 | +13 | +14 | +15 |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Points | 30 | 37 | 44 | 51 | 58 | 64 | 68 | 70 |
Where the tier part stops growing
Tier is the item drop level divided by two, capped at 90. That means any piece with drop level 180 or higher is already at the maximum of that part. In practice, from Holyangel armor on the tier gives nothing more, and all the growth comes from refining, excellent, luck and ancient.
| Piece | Drop level | Tier points |
|---|---|---|
| Bronze Armor | 18 | 9 |
| Sphinx Armor | 38 | 19 |
| Spirit Armor | 44 | 22 |
| Guardian Armor | 57 | 28 |
| Dragon Armor | 59 | 29 |
| Blood Angel Knight Armor | 150 | 75 |
| Darkangel Knight Armor | 160 | 80 |
| Holyangel Knight Armor | 180 | 90 |
| Soul Knight Armor | 191 | 90 |
| Lightning Knight Armor | 255 | 90 |
The rank
The gear score turns into a rank with a color, shown on the C panel and in the tooltip. The cuts are not round fractions of the cap: they were placed where the server has a real progression milestone.
| Rank | Character | Piece |
|---|---|---|
| Recruit | 0 to 299 | 0 to 59 |
| Veteran | 300 to 899 | 60 to 109 |
| Elite | 900 to 1,499 | 110 to 159 |
| Champion | 1,500 to 2,199 | 160 to 209 |
| Legend | 2,200 or more | 210 or more |
The server calibration references are: a beginner character around 100, mid game around 1,200 and a fully geared top character around 2,900, with a soft cap at 3,000. The character gear score is the sum of everything worn across the twelve equipment slots.
Getting close to the cap
A 238 point piece, without sockets, is the realistic target. It needs all of this at the same time:
- Drop level 180 or higher, which means Holyangel armor and up, or a weapon of equivalent tier. Worth 90.
- Refining +15. Worth 70, and the last three levels are worth 12 of those 70.
- Six excellent options. Worth 48, and it is the hardest part to complete: the drop gives you one guaranteed and the others by chance.
- Luck. Worth 4, it is cheap and it is almost always there.
- Active ancient. Worth 26 with one discriminator. The mastery sets belong to a set group, so this part usually comes together with the high tier.
- Taking a piece from +9 to +12: that is 21 points, with controlled risk.
- Trading a two excellent piece for a four excellent one: 16 points at once.
- Closing the ancient set instead of mixing loose pieces.
- Replacing a low drop level piece, where the tier part is far from the cap.
- Going from +14 to +15 just for the number: that is 2 points.
- Trading Soul armor for Lightning thinking about tier: both are already at the 90 cap.
- Switching wing generation for the gear score: they all give the same 75 tier points.
- Counting on sockets in a top piece, which in most cases does not accept spheres.
