Socket and Harmony
The two advanced upgrade systems, what each one delivers and where the chain that leads to them begins.
Updated on August 10, 2026Socket and Harmony are the last two upgrade steps of an item, above refining and options. Both depend on the same jewel, the Jewel of Harmony, and that one in turn comes from the Gemstone. The whole chain begins in Kanturu.
The whole chain
- 1Gemstone
0.5% in Kanturu Ruins and Relics, monster level 93+
- 2Jewel of Harmony
refined from the Gemstone at the Elphis Refinery, 80% success
- 3Seed
created with a Jewel of Harmony; it does not drop from monsters
- 4Seed Sphere
seed plus sphere, 80% success
- 5Filled socket
fitted into the piece, 100% success
- The spheres (Sphere Mono, Di and Tri) drop normally, from monsters of level 102, 122 and 132 up. The top two, Sphere (4) and Sphere (5), started dropping too, with drop level 142 and 148.
- The seeds do not drop from monsters: the only source is the recipe that consumes a Jewel of Harmony.
- An item with sockets drops normally, with one to five slots, always empty. Filling them is your job.
- The two refine stones have their own recipe at Osbourne and do not depend on Gemstone. They serve to raise the level of a Harmony option already applied.
- A round number for planning: each Gemstone has an 80% chance of becoming a jewel, and each jewel has a 60% chance of landing the option. On average that is two Gemstones per Harmony option applied.
Harmony, in theory
The Jewel of Harmony adds a rolled option to the item, at a 60% chance. If it fails, nothing happens: the item stays as it was and the jewel is spent. After that, the level of that option goes up with the two refine stones.
| Jewel | Success | Failure |
|---|---|---|
| Jewel of Harmony | 60% | nothing happens |
| Lower refine stone | 20% | the option goes back to the minimum level |
| Higher refine stone | 80% | the option goes back to the minimum level |
There are three families of Harmony option, and the item falls into one of them according to its type. Each family has a pool with different weights: the stronger options have a lower weight and only become available from a higher item level on.
Physical attack
| Option | Weight | Minimum item level | Value at the top |
|---|---|---|---|
| Minimum physical damage | 40 | 0 | +20 |
| Maximum physical damage | 40 | 0 | +29 |
| Reduces required strength | 40 | 0 | minus 40 |
| Reduces required agility | 40 | 0 | minus 40 |
| Base physical damage | 30 | 6 | +19 |
| Critical damage bonus | 30 | 6 | +30 |
| Skill damage bonus | 20 | 9 | +22 |
| Attack rate in PvP | 20 | 9 | +14 |
| Pierces the opponent's shield | 20 | 9 | 10% |
| Chance to ignore the shield | 10 | 13 | 10% |
Magic attack
| Option | Weight | Minimum item level | Value at the top |
|---|---|---|---|
| Base magic damage | 40 | 0 | +31 |
| Reduces required strength | 40 | 0 | minus 40 |
| Reduces required agility | 40 | 0 | minus 40 |
| Skill damage bonus | 30 | 6 | +30 |
| Critical damage bonus | 30 | 6 | +28 |
| Attack rate in PvP | 20 | 9 | +14 |
| Pierces the opponent's shield | 20 | 9 | 13% |
| Chance to ignore the shield | 10 | 13 | 15% |
Defense
| Option | Weight | Minimum item level | Value at the top |
|---|---|---|---|
| Defense | 50 | 0 | +25 |
| Maximum AG | 40 | 3 | +25 |
| Maximum health | 40 | 3 | +30 |
| Health recovery | 30 | 6 | +8 |
| Mana recovery | 20 | 9 | +5 |
| Defense rate in PvP | 20 | 9 | +8 |
| Armor damage reduction | 20 | 9 | 7% |
| Shield rate increase | 10 | 13 | 5% |
- The options that reduce a required stat only enter the draw if the item actually has that requirement. An item that does not ask for agility never rolls the agility reduction.
- An ancient item does not take a Jewel of Harmony. The jewel is refused, and that is intentional.
- To remove a Harmony option there is a recipe at Jerridon, with 100% success and a price that grows with the option level, from 100,000 to 500,000 zen.
The "pierces the opponent's shield" option deserves a line of its own. In PvP, the defender's shield absorbs 90% of the hit; this option cuts into that number, and it runs from 3% to 10% in the physical family and from 4% to 13% in the magic one. It was once broken by a scale mistake: the values were read as 300% to 1300%, and a single level zeroed the opponent's whole absorption. That was fixed and today it is worth what the table says.
Socket, in theory
A socket item has one to five slots. Into each slot goes a Seed Sphere, which is the combination of an elemental seed with a sphere. The element of the seed decides the option family, and its level decides which specific option you get.
| Element | What it delivers |
|---|---|
| Fire | damage, attack speed and reduced AG consumption |
| Ice | health and mana per monster killed, skill damage, attack rate and item duration |
| Lightning | excellent damage, critical damage and the chances of each |
| Wind | maximum health, mana and AG, and their recovery |
| Water | defense rate, final defense, shield defense, damage reduction and reflection |
| Earth | a single option: up to +38 maximum health |
The spheres come in five levels, and the level decides the strength of the option. A concrete example, with the fire attack speed option: level 1 gives +7 and level 5 gives +11. The fire maximum damage option runs from +30 to +50.
| Socket item | Slots | Accepted elements | Examples |
|---|---|---|---|
| Level 380 weapons | 3 | fire, lightning and ice | Flamberge, Sword Breaker, Imperial Sword, Frost Mace, Absolute Scepter, Deadly Staff, Imperial Staff, Eternal Wing Stick |
| Stinger Bow | 5 | fire, lightning and ice | the only five slot item in the game |
| Top shields | 3 | water, earth and wind | Crimson Glory, Salamander Shield, Frost Barrier, Guardian Shield |
| Sets 45 to 53 | 3 per piece | water, earth and wind | Titan, Brave, Destory, Phantom, Seraphim, Faith, Paewang, Hades |
Filling three slots with fire, lightning and ice in the right order gives a 30% chance of the item gaining a socket bonus on top, which adds base damage and skill damage on a weapon, or defense and health on armor.
Where to start
- Farm Kanturu. The Relics are the better of the two: a small map, 159 monsters, all above level 93, and they also drop Symbol of Kundun +7.
- Keep the spheres you find, including the old ones. They do not spoil and you will need one per slot.
- Refine before fitting. An item with a socket loses 20 percentage points of chance in the Chaos Machine, the heaviest penalty in the table.
- If you are between level 260 and 289, the Elf Soldier random quests are still worth it as an extra source of Gemstone and Jewel of Harmony.
