Dying
What you lose when you die, what you do not lose, where you respawn and what changes depending on whether a monster or a player killed you.
Updated on August 10, 2026Dying here is cheaper than on many servers, and it is worth knowing that before you play too defensively. No item drops on the ground, no durability is lost and your character comes back with all four bars full. What hurts is the experience and a slice of your zen, and even those only when a monster is what killed you.
- 3 suntil you respawn
- 0items lost
- 1%of experience, in the common case
- 1% to 4%of the zen in your inventory and vault
What happens right away
- 1Death
Your character stops walking and is marked as dead for everyone around.
- 2Penalties
If a monster did the killing, the experience and zen loss is applied here.
- 33 second wait
Nothing happens during that interval.
- 4Cleanup
Your summon is dismissed and the buffs flagged to disappear on death are removed.
- 5Respawn
All four bars go back to maximum and you appear at the map's respawn point.
Experience loss
The loss is a percentage of your current level's bar, not of your total experience. And there is a floor: you never lose a level. If the loss would go past the start of the bar, it stops there.
| Level range | Regular player | Murderer warning | Murderer 1st stage | Murderer 2nd stage |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Level 10 or higher | 1% | 5% | 6% | 7% |
| Level 150 or higher | 1% | 4% | 5% | 6% |
| Level 220 or higher | 1% | 3% | 4% | 5% |
| Master character | 0.7% | 2% | 3% | 4% |
For a master character, the loss comes out of the master experience, not out of the normal bar, which is already locked at 400.
Zen loss
This also only happens when a monster does the killing, and it also does not happen inside an event. The percentage is taken from your inventory and your vault at the same time, and it does not change if you are a PK.
| Level range | From the inventory | From the vault |
|---|---|---|
| Level 10 or higher | 1% | 1% |
| Level 150 or higher | 2% | 2% |
| Level 220 or higher | 3% | 3% |
| Master character | 4% | 4% |
What you do not lose
| Thing | Situation |
|---|---|
| Inventory items | nothing drops on the ground, under any circumstance, not even as a PK |
| Equipped items | they stay equipped |
| Durability | durability only drops when you take a hit and when you land one with the weapon, never from the death itself |
| Tree points | never lost, and the server checks that on every login |
| Zen outside the inventory and the vault | there is no other place to keep zen |
Where you respawn
The default is simple: each map points to a respawn map. If the map has its own entry point, you come back on it, in the safe zone. If it does not, you end up in Lorencia.
| Map where you died | Where you respawn |
|---|---|
| Most field maps | on the map itself, in its safe zone |
| Maps with no entry point of their own | Lorencia |
| Icarus | Lost Tower |
| Santa Village | Devias |
| Urk Mountain and Nars | Acheron |
| Karutan 2 | Karutan 1 |
| Raklion's lair | Raklion |
| Devil Square, levels 1 to 4 | Noria |
| Duel Arena | Lorencia |
Two situations break the rule. Inside a duel, you respawn in your corner of the arena itself, with everything full, and your opponent is repositioned for the next round. In guild football, you come back inside the field.
Dying to another player
It is the cheapest death in the game: zero experience and zero zen. Both penalties require the final blow to come from a monster. What a death to a player does happens on the other side of the screen: the killer can become a PK, depending on the situation.
If you are a PK
- You lose far more experience when a monster kills you: 2% to 7%, against 0.7% or 1%.
- There is no difference in zen, items, durability, respawn point or wait time.
- Guards start hunting you outside the safe zone from the second step on.
